The Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Nagaland has issued a circular announcing a mass social work across the entire Dimapur District on May 31, 2025, starting from 6:00 AM onwards, as part of a pre-monsoon preparedness initiative.

In light of the approaching monsoon, the social work aims to address crucial sanitation and drainage concerns. The effort will focus on the unclogging of drains, clearance of construction debris, foliage removal, proper waste disposal, and general upkeep of public spaces and utilities. Both government offices and private institutions in the district are to mobilize their staff to clean their premises and citizens are encouraged to clean their houses, neighbourhoods, and drainage systems. Shopkeepers must ensure cleanliness around their establishments. Village Councils and GBs are tasked with supervising the drives in their areas.

The Dimapur Municipal Council, East Dimapur Town Council, and respective Village Councils will oversee the disposal of garbage and debris.

All shops and business establishments are instructed to remain closed till 9:00 AM on the day of social work. A helpline number—9615217798 (Wapang Longchar, DMC) has also been provided for coordination and queries.

Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, NCS, has underscored the importance of community participation in ensuring effective sanitation measures ahead of the monsoon season. He has also imposed no work no pay for all the government employees and the attendance to be submitted to the SDO (C).
