Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, S. Supongmeren Jamir visited the landslide-affected area under Phesama Village, Kohima on 7th June 2025 accompanied by the Joint Secretary of NHIDCL, SDO (Civil) Jakhama, Additional SP of Kohima, and officials from NHIDCL.
A portion of National Highway-2 (NH-2) was completely washed out due to the landslide, cutting off a vital link for southern Angami region and the neighbouring state of Manipur.
During the visit, Jamir stressed the urgent need to restore the damaged road and ensure the safety of commuters. He urged NHIDCL to expedite the work and take immediate steps to resume connectivity.
Officials also conducted a survey to explore alternative road options to help ease the transport issues caused by the landslide.
Jamir also met with the Phesama Village Council. He appreciated their ongoing efforts in responding to the situation, and assured the villagers and local organisations that he would continue to press higher authorities for faster action and necessary support.
