Nagaland Governor, La Ganesan, made his official visit to Tamlu subdivision under Longleng district on 25th March 2025. A brief programme was held at multi training centre Tamlu with the District Administration of Longleng and Tamlu, Heads of Offices of various Departments and civil Society organisation of Tamlu Headquarter.

The program was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Tamlu, T. Lankonsen Tsanglao, who delivered the welcome address and presented an overview of the sub-division through a PowerPoint presentation.

Addressing the gathering, Governor, La Ganesan expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and commended the dedication of government officials and civil society members in fostering development in the region. He stated that his visit was guided by two core objectives:

1.      To assess the developmental initiatives in sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, and infrastructure to ensure they align with the needs of the people.

2.      To listen to the concerns of the community, understand their challenges, and incorporate their aspirations into policy-making.

"My mission here is simple—to listen, learn, and collaborate. Development is a collective effort, and I am here to strengthen the bonds between the government, civil society, and every citizen," the Governor emphasized.

He acknowledged the challenges faced by various government departments, particularly in improving road connectivity, healthcare, education, and agriculture, and commended their efforts despite constraints. The Governor also praised civil society organizations for their role in advocating for justice, bridging gaps, and empowering communities.

Governor Ganesan urged community leaders to foster peace through dialogue, mutual respect, and unity. He called upon the youth to embrace good citizenship, respect for the law, and pride in their cultural heritage while contributing to communal welfare.

“Progress thrives where there is synergy. Our governments both at the centre and at the state endeavor to bring infrastructure, healthcare and economic opportunities to all its citizens. But without the cooperation of civil Society these efforts remain incomplete” he added and urged upon all the civil society organizations to partner with the government.

The Governor also engaged in an interactive session with civil society organizations and participants.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA B. Bangtick Phom welcomed the Governor and highlighted the progress achieved in Tamlu over the past two years under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio. He credited the "opposition-less government" for various developmental strides in the region.

However, the MLA also raised pressing concerns, particularly the long-standing border disputes between Namsang villages and Assam’s Ahom community. He urged the Governor to intervene in the issue of encroachment and the Ladigarh village dispute to ensure lasting peace and security for the people. Additionally, he sought the revival of key infrastructure projects in the region.

Other speakers at the event included, President PPC Y.B. Angam Phom; W. Tingken Konyak, 'K' khel Tamlu Village; President Namsang Citizen Union Tongshauh and former President PPC, P. Chingan Phom who shared their perspective on local issues.
