Along with the rest of the country, Shamator too observed the National Girl Child Day organised by the Department of Social Welfare, Shamator District on 24th January 2026 with the theme - Empowering Girls for a bright future.

Lakiumong Yimchunger, Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) shamator, appealed to the parents to take extra care for their daughters and stated that a girl child is very vulnerable from birth till they attain maturity. The program was witnessed by the display of cultural games and traditional outfits by the participating children.
