The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, National initiative programme of ICAR-KVK, Porba, Phek, Nagaland was officially launched by MLA, with Dr. Neisatuo Mero as Chief Guest, on 29th May 2025.
Dr. Mero began his address by emphasizing on the crucial role of sustainable agriculture in promoting rural development and then highlighted the need for effective transfer of technologies to farmers for improving productivity and livelihood.
Dr. Mero further appreciated the inclusive approach of the Viksit Krishi Abhiyan, which brings together scientists, extension workers, and farmers under one platform to foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing through the launching programme.
DC Phek, Rhosietho Nguori, speaking as guest of honour at the programme, commended the ICAR-KVK, Phek team for their dedicated efforts in implementing science-led farming practices and for bridging the gap between scientific research and field level application. He also commented that the success of Agriculture development lies in grassroots-level engagement.
DHO Phek, Senkalemba, spoke at the program and shared his insights on enhancing Horticulture outreach in the district, and also encouraged the farmers to ensure holistic agriculture development.
Farmer, Niekhozolu, representing the farmers, while addressing the gathering, acknowledged the expectations of local farmers and declared their strong support for the VKSA programme.
Head and Senior Scientist of ICAR-KVK Phek, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Singh, informed that the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Yatra will continue across Phek district from 29th May to 12th June 2025, during which a team of KVK scientists will visit all 106 villages under Phek and Meluri districts and interact with the farmers directly.
The program was conducted by Dr. T. Esther Longkumer, Chief Technical Officer of KVK Phek. Interactive session was also facilitated between farmers, scientists, and government officials.
Dr. Narendra, Scientist (Agriculture Extension), ICAR-NRC on Mithun, Medziphema, delivered the vote of thanks.
