The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has issued weather updates for the coming days. In the following days, Nagaland is set to experience heavy rainfall in almost all the districts from 5th of August till 9th of August, 2025 with Peren, Dimapur, Kohima, Wokha, Zunheboto Mokokchung, Longleng, Mon and Tuensang expected to receive very heavy rainfall on 7th and 8th August 2025.
These showers may be accompanied by thunderstorm and lightning at localized places. During this period, intermittent rainfall is expected in all the districts of Nagaland. As a result, it is vital to take the necessary measures at this period, avoiding lightning strikes and high winds, including which can disrupt communication and connectivity.
Nagaland's lowland and foothill districts including Dimapur, Niuland, Chumukedima, Bhandari, Pangti, Tizit and Tuli are vulnerable to inundated water logging and flash floods due to the possibility of excessive precipitation in the hill sector. In this regard, NSDMA, Home Department has urged the public to exercise caution to avoid any eventualities during this period.
The NSDMA, Home Department has also requested all the District Disaster Management Authorities and other line departments to remain on high alert to safeguard lives and property during the monsoon season.
