Along with the rest of the country, Mon District observed World Malaria Day  on 25th April 2025 at District Hospital Conference Hall organised by  National Vector Borne Disease Control Program Mon with the theme “ Malaria Ends With Us: Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite” with SDO (C), Mon, Ajit Kumar, IAS gracing the occasion as a special guest.

Kumar in his address stated that malaria was once a deadly disease where many lives were lost but now because of the collective efforts from government and the hard work of the health workers, the lives of people have improved. He expressed his gratitude to the concerned department for the progressive achievement in eliminating malaria in the district. He also added that, since 2021 a single case has not been detected in the district, which is a noble achievement. He also reminded the gathering to incorporate the theme Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite and requested them to reignite with dedication of delivering their service in the health sector.

DVBO, Mon, Dr. Abenthung Murry felicitated the two best performances of Surveillance Workers (SWs) and ASHAs from District: P S Chong, SW of Tizit and C. Yemen, SW of Aboi Block, Chula ASHA from Aboi Block and Nonlih, ASHA from Jakphang Village. He also said that Mon District is qualified to get the Malaria Eliminating certificate.

The programme was chaired by Shingong Konyak, MTS Wakching, welcome address by Dr. Wungong Konyak, DPO, (RCH) Mon. Hoya, a student of GHSS ‘D’ gave a speech on the topic, and vote of thanks was given by Mr. N. Nokman.
