World Red Cross Day was observed in Wokha under the theme “United in Humanity.” The program was graced by Dr. Khyobenthung Tsopoe, Vice President of Mount Tiyi College, Wokha, as the special guest on 8th May 2026 at DC's Conference Hall, Wokha.
In his address, Dr. Tsopoe highlighted the historical context and purpose of the Red Cross movement. He spoke on its value-driven mission of fostering a caring and healthier society, emphasizing the willingness to help and assist even strangers. Reflecting on the theme “United in Humanity,” he elaborated on the importance of human service and the role of collective compassion in building stronger communities.
Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, K. Mhathung Tsanglao, also delivered a speech, underscoring the objectives of Red Cross Day and the crucial role of volunteer organizations. He highlighted the contributions of the Red Cross in community health services and addressing social issues, stressing the need for practical approaches to bring change and strengthen society. Drawing from his own experiences, he spoke on the benefits of Red Cross membership and urged citizens to be socially and morally conscious in volunteering. He reminded the gathering that the Red Cross is not limited to wartime or disaster assistance along, but extends far beyond, touching everyday lives.
The program featured a special song presented by Isiah Ability Higher Secondary School, Wokha. A brief report was delivered by Secretary of IRCSW, Nzano P. Kikon, while the vote of thanks was proposed by Yilobemo Humtsoe.
