Deputy Commissioner & District Magistrate Kohima, Shanavas C IAS in exercise of the powers conferred under Sections 144A of the CrCP has prohibited any person from carrying arms (firearms, machete/dao, clubs, spears, explosives, catapults or any other articles designed or adopted as weapon for offence or defence) in their possession within the District of Kohima with immediate effect. The Order is passed ex-parte due to emergent exigencies and shall remain in force till further notice.

The Order was issued in connection with the ensuing General Election to the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly 2023 and as per the Election Commission of India directives to ensure measures for peaceful, free and fair poll during General Election.
