The Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, has issued an official circular to help local families with hospital bills. The circular shares information about the "Dr. Ambedkar Medical Aid Scheme". This program gives financial help to people from Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities who are fighting serious, life-threatening illnesses.

The money is meant for patients who need big surgeries or treatments, like organ transplants, brain or spinal surgeries, kidney care, and cancer treatments. To get the aid, a patient must meet two main rules: The family's total yearly income must be less than Rs. 5,00,000. The patient must not be covered under the AB-PMJAY or CMHIS health insurance plans.

The cash help will not be sent to the patient's personal bank account. Instead, the foundation sends the money straight to the hospital. There are also limits on how much help a patient can get for each illness:

Kidney/Organ Transplant: Up to Rs. 3.50 lakh

Kidney Surgery / Dialysis: Up to Rs. 3.50 lakh

Cancer Treatment (Surgery, Chemo, Radiation): Up to Rs. 2.50 lakh

Brain Surgery: Up to Rs. 2.00 lakh

Other life-threatening Diseases: Up to Rs. 2.00 lakh

Heart Surgery: Up to Rs. 1.50 lakh

Spinal Surgery: Up to Rs. 1.50 lakh

It further informed that the qualified patient must fill the application form (Annexure-I) and submit the form to the Dr. Ambedkar Foundation office, New Delhi. The filled in application form must arrive at least 15 days before the treatment starts.

The patients are also advised to attach photocopies of Caste or Tribe Certificate to prove that you belong to the SC or ST community. An Income Certificate official issued by the Deputy Commissioner’s Office. For ID Proof, Aadhaar card or Ration card. Hospital Estimate: A formal note (Annexure-II) from the Hospital's Medical Superintendent showing the cost of surgery or treatment.
