In compliance and reiteration to Rule 65 of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and as amended through Gazette notification, Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, Shashank Pratap Singh, IAS has directed all Pharmacies/Medical Stores within Mokokchung district to strictly comply to the following directives.

The Drugs mentioned under Schedule ‘X’ ‘H’ and ‘HI’ which are restrictive in nature shall be sold only on the prescription of a Registered Medical Practitioner and only the amount specified in the prescription. The sale of the above mentioned Drugs shall be recorded in a separate register, mentioning the name and address of the prescriber, patient and the drug, the quantity sold and such record shall be maintained for three years and shall be open for inspection.

In addition to the above and whereas the strategic intervention as part of the Joint Action Plan has been adopted by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) for the Protection of Child Rights and combating substance abuse among children, all the Pharmacies/Medical Stores selling Schedule ‘X’ ‘H’ and ‘HI’ are hereby directed to install CCTV cameras along with the proper recording and storage of minimum 2 (Two) months data within a period of 2 (Two) months from the date of issue of this order. Footage of the CCTV cameras shall be regularly checked by the District Drug Controller Authority/District Enforcement Force, Mokokchung. Non-compliance to the above direction shall invite Legal Action under Section 133 of the CrPC.

Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung in an advisory has informed all concerned, especially the Heads of Institutions/Administrators/Proprietors of Government and Private Schools/Colleges operating under Mokokchung district to install CCTV cameras in the school premises/classrooms to ensure that the use of substance (Tobacco/Alcohol/Drugs) by the children in the school premises is strictly prevented. The District Child Protection Unit, Mokokchung shall conduct random checking of the footages of the installed CCTVs.
