Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer, Noklak K. Mhathung Tsanglao in an order stated that in view of the date of poll for the General Election to the Nagaland legislative Assembly, 2023 is scheduled for 27th of February 2023 and in keeping with the provisions of Article 326 of the Indian Constitution which grants adult suffrage to every citizen of India who is not less than 18th years of age, all Presiding Officers and Polling Officials deployed for poll duties under Noklak Election District in connection with the General Election to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, 2023, have been directed to ensure that no proxy voting takes place in any of the polling stations, except those persons who have been authorized to vote as proxy for an elector under any law for the time being in force so far as he votes as a proxy for such elector.
Whoever engages in the act of proxy voting shall attract punishment under Sections 171C, 171D, and 171F of the Indian Penal Code which prohibit undue influence at the election, applying of voter paper, or voting in the name of any other person or impersonation in any form. Any person found committing these acts shall be imprisoned for a term which may extend to one year, or with a fine or with both.

The Order shall be enforced strictly in all Polling Stations under Noklak Election District, DC added.
