In order to further streamline and strengthen the verification process for delayed registration of births and deaths beyond one year, the Department of Economic & Statistic, Nagaland has notified and issued the following revised requirements to be followed by the District Magistrate or Sub-Divisional Magistrate/Executive Magistrate duly authorized by the District Magistrate, as the case may be, prior to approval of such delayed registration.

Applicants seeking delayed registration of birth beyond one year shall produce at least 2 (two) of the following supporting documents as proof of birth, place and date:

1. Discharge slip issued by the concerned hospital or health institution.

2. Vaccination card issued by the concerned hospital or health institution.

3. School Records/ HSLC Admit Card.

4. Government ID Card.

5. Driving License.

6. Passport.

7. Pensioner Card.

8. Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC).

9. PAN Card.

10. Certification by Village Council Chairman/Ward Councillor.

For non-indigenous applicants, Birth Certificate of Parents and Inner Line Permit (ILP) is mandatory in addition to 'A' above.

Applicants seeking delayed registration of death beyond one year shall produce any of the following as supporting document:

1. Medical Certificate for cause of Death

2. Certification by Village Council Chairman/Ward Councillor indicating date of death.

The department informs all District Chief Registrars of Births & Deaths, Registrars and all concerned authorities to ensure strict compliance with this Notification while processing applications for delayed registration of births and deaths.

This Notification shall come into force with immediate effect.
