The Department of Food & Civil Supplies, Government of Nagaland, has issued a notification introducing additional mandatory documents for non-indigenous residents seeking enrolment under the General Household (GHH) Scheme under the Tide Over Allocation. The notification has been issued in continuation of the department's earlier guidelines on the implementation of the National Food Security Act, 2013, and the modalities governing the implementation of the GHH Scheme under the Tide Over category.

As part of the new requirements, every non-indigenous applicant seeking enrolment under the GHH Scheme will be required to submit a self-declaration in the prescribed format certifying that he or she does not possess a ration card and is not availing benefits under the Public Distribution System (PDS) in his or her home state.

Further, the department has directed that all General Household ration cards issued to non-indigenous residents shall carry the statement, "The Card issued to Non-Indigenous Residents of Nagaland is only for the purpose of issuance of food grains and not to be used/accepted as a document for proof of identity or any other purposes."

The notification stated that these additional requirements have been incorporated for implementation under the GHH Scheme and will come into force with immediate effect.
