In view of the onset of monsoon and persistent heavy rainfall in the past few days, which is likely to continue, the following advisory has been issued in public interest for public safety.

            All fishing activities have been strictly restricted along the rivers and streams in Niuland district. All recreational and non-essential activities along the river, stream and water bodies, like swimming, picnicking, gathering, collection of resources, have been restricted and may be avoided during the rainy season due to risk of flash flood and raising water levels. Residents living near river banks, water bodies and low laying areas have been advised to stay vigilant and evacuate to higher/safer areas in case of increase in water level.

            It has been advised to avoid fishing in overflowing streams and drains as it increases risk of drowning and accidents. The risk outbreak of waterborne diseases increases in areas affected by flooding, necessary precaution should be taken to prevent waterborne diseases. Heavy rainfall and sudden flooding pose significant risk to life, livestock and property.

            Therefore, all the citizens have been requested to follow safety precautions and report to respective Area Administrative Officers through concerned village council in cases of loss of life and property.
