With the government allowing for inter district movement of stranded people due to COVID 19 lockdown, around 1297 local indigenous stranded people including students and workers were ferried to their respective districts from Nagaland Badminton stadium  Dimapur on 7th May 2020. NST buses and private requisitioned buses numbering 48 numbers were sent to ferry these people on day one. The first batches were sent in interior districts like Mon and Longleng with police escorts around 8:58 am .10 buses with 310 people was despatched at Mon district , Longleng 3 buses with 74 people Kohima 1 bus with 29 persons, Peren 2 with 41, Wokha 4 with 78 , Mokukchung 5 buses with 129 people, Kipheri 2 buses with 48, Phek 4 buses with 61 persons Meluri 2 buses with 43 people, Zuneboto 3 buses with 71 people, Tuensang 4 buses with 121 people Shamator 1 bus with 31 persons, Noklak 2 buses with 53 people , Tamlu 3 buses with 32 people, Kiphiri 2 buses with 48 persons, Pungro 1 bus with 38 persons , Tobu 2 buses with 62 persons and Akuhuiqa 1 bus with 28 persons departed the State badminton stadium in their respective districts after  screening and obtaining medical certificates from medical department and permit from the District administration..

Deputy Commissioner Dimapur, Anoop Kinchi IAS personally   monitored the whole process since morning. He informed that more buses would be requisitioned and was optimistic that the exercise of transporting local stranded people would be completed within 3 days.

Commissioner Police Dimapur, Rothihu Tetseo who was also in the State Badminton stadium Dimapur, informed that one platoon has been deployed in the area to ensure proper law and order. He further informed that police escorts with arms has been deployed to the buses going via Assam and as for the buses travelling within the district minimum escort as per SOP was provided.
