The Nagaland User’s Network, NUN TI, NUN LWS, DAPCU, and Social Welfare Department organized the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on 26th June 2023 at DC Office Conference Hall, Wokha with Deputy Commissioner, Wokha Ajit Kumar Ranjan, IAS as the special guest.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner said in recent time Wokha district have been observing an alarming increase in drug-abuse cases where he stated that collective effort from all sections of society including the churches, civil society organization, stakeholders, and the departments needed to come together and work together in unity to fight against drug menace in order to save the younger generation, he also urged the people to stop stigma and discrimination against the substance abusers rather encourage them to take timely medical help and treatment in order to create a healthy environment.

He said, "with unity, people can put an end to this serious threat and cooperate in the fight against drug abuse in our society. Creating awareness about the ill effect of drugs is the need of the hour, and all departments, churches, and stakeholders to come together in spreading the message about this drug menace to make our society and community free of drugs."

Dr. Aben Murry, Medical Officer, Chukitong spoke on the theme “People First: Stop Stigma and Discrimination strengthen prevention”. Short speeches were also delivered by District Welfare Officer, James Ezung, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Zuben Kikon, representative from SP office, Lichumo DPO, DAPCU, Patrick Jami DRP-NUN LWS and Abeni Humtsoe WNP+ president, Wokha.
