Mokokchung Police in its “War Against Drugs” conducted a routine check on 1st July 2023 and apprehended one person, Lanutoshi (33 years) S/O Lt. Sendongyanger V/O Ungma P/A Ungma ‘B’ Khel at MMC Complex Sumo Stand, Mokokchung on seeing him receiving a parcel through Sumo driver. During checking one plastic soap container containing suspected Brown Sugar/Heroin concealed inside the parcel was recovered from his possession. Lanutoshi is a constable in DEF Mokokchung, the suspected Brown Sugar/Heroin weighed around 09.27 grams.

The Police, on further investigation, identified the supplier and in this connection, a search operation was conducted in Dimapur on 5th July 2023 and arrested two persons, Moameren Vmai(40 years), S/O Dvio Vmai Poumai, V/O Tonjoy Poumai-Senapati, Manipur P/A Naga United Village Chumukidema and Buni Throzho (47 years) 55 Kilonser NSCN-K (NIKI) S/O Rhinyi Throonzho V/O Chingme Khullem/Raveme District Senapati, Manipur P/A Rangailong Colony Burma Camp, Dimapur and also seized 1(one) .22 caliber Pen pistol with 6(six). 22 caliber live-round ammo from their possession. Accordingly, a case has been registered at Mkg PS- I for further investigation.

Mokokchung Police requested the general public to cooperate in combating the drug menace. It was also informed that any person indulging in drug abuse and drug trafficking would be sternly dealt with as per provision under the Narcotic and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
