Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio officially launched the World Bank assisted Government  of India Scheme, Raising  and Accelerating  MSME Performance (RAMP), in Nagaland in the presence of all the members of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly at Nagaland Legislative Assembly Secretariat, Kohima on 27th August 2024.

Rio congratulated the Department of Industries & Commerce for the successful launch of the Scheme under the guidance and leadership of the Advisor, Industries & Commerce, Hekhani Jakhalu. Many of the youths have availed immense benefits through the initiative of "Year of Youth Empowerment" and "Year of Entrepreneurs ", he mentioned.

The Chief Minister also mentioned that notable progress have been made through the initiatives of IDAN, incubation centres and Startup Nagaland. Events such as the CSR Conclave and the G20-B20 meetings have further showcased the State's growing importance.

The Chief Minister's Micro Finance Initiative was introduced to provide financial support to businesses. The government has made significant stride in empowering youth and entrepreneurs. However, the state still faces with the challenge of addressing unemployment problem for our educated unemployed youths in the state.

The state is now witnessing a significant shift in the policy trajectory of the Government of India, with a growing focus on MSMEs. Therefore, he urged the Department to intensify their focus in this sector and provide the necessary support to entrepreneurs as they scale up through the RAMP project and other MSME related schemes.

Advisor, Industries & Commerce, Hekani Jakhalu in her opening remarks said the success of the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) could only be successful if all the 60 legislators of the state would understand and personally reach out personally in their respective constituencies.

She pointed out that the programme was important, since the economy and doing business in our state is not systematic due to lack of knowledge on accountability which results in losses and that with the RAMP and UNNATI scheme programme, it would teach the younger people to generate revenue through entrepreneurship.

Hekani Jakhalu also urged the Chief Minister of the state, the Power department and Road and Bridges Department for proper power supply and road connectivity for smooth functioning of the industries.

Secretary, Industries & Commerce, Shanavas, C.  IAS presented About RAMP Program through powerpoint presentation.
