In response to severe flooding in Dimapur, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) carried out a series of Search and Rescue (S&R) operations across multiple flood-affected colonies. The operations, conducted on 8th July led to the successful evacuation of 60 individuals including 31 males and 29 females from various vulnerable areas at Dimapur.
Rescue Operations Timeline: The SDRF teams initiated their first operation at 6:00 AM beginning from Lengrijan (Ao-khel) Dump, rescuing 14 people (10 males, 4 females). This was followed by swift operations at Immanuel College, Lengrijan Dump rescuing 3 individuals (2 males, 1 female), United Colony, Half Nagarjan Dump evacuated 5 people (3 males, 2 females), Vihume Colony Dump rescuing 14 individuals (3 males, 11 females), and at Medical Colony Dump, 4 people (3 males, 1 female) were safely evacuated.
The operation continued into the noon hours beginning from Sema Khel, Notun Bosti at 11:30 AM, rescuing 4 people (1 male, 3 females). At L.R.C. Notun Bosti, 16 people were rescued (9 males, 7 females).
Operations were officially called off at 2:00 PM, with no casualties reported from any quarter. The SDRF team was commended for their timely response and coordination.
Site Inspection by District Authorities: Post-rescue, inspection of flood-affected areas was carried out by district officials lead by DC Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, along with DDMA members, Colony/Village Council representatives, and DMC Counselors. The scheduled inspection covered: Lengrijan, Notun Bosti, IV-LRC, Island Colony, and Nagarjan.
The team assessed damage levels, interacted with residents and reviewed immediate requirements for relief and rehabilitation. The team also assured that all necessary support, including temporary shelter and medical aid, will be extended to the affected population. The SDRF and DDMA continue to monitor the situation closely, ready to act upon any further emergency.
