Jalukie Town joined the rest of the nation in celebrating the 79th Independence Day with grandeur at the GHSS Ground, Jalukie, Peren on 15th August 2025. Advisor for Food and Civil Supplies, Legal Metrology, K. Tokugha Sukhalu, graced the occasion as the Special Guest.
Sukhalu hoisted the National Flag and also took the Rashtriya Salute from the parade contingents represented by GHSS Jalukie, St. Xavier College Jalukie, JNV Jalukie, ITMS School Jalukie, and LM Higher Secondary School, Mhainamtsi. The National Anthem was rendered by students of Ibang Thou Memorial School, Jalukie.
The celebration featured a vibrant cultural display by the Jalukie Students’ Union and a special performance by Bamile Pame. Exhibition stalls set up by various departments and self-help groups of the Sub-Division were inaugurated, adding to the day’s significance.
The event saw participation from government officials, public leaders, NGOs, Town Councillors, and residents of Jalukie Town. Earlier in the day, the National Flag was hoisted at all government offices, institutions, and private establishments.
The celebration concluded with the ceremonial Beating of Retreat by DEF Jalukie in the evening.
