The Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, NCS has issued an official circular directing all Heads of Offices (HoOs) to organize and conduct a pledge against child marriage on November 27th, 2025, within their respective offices and institutions.

The initiative is part of the Government’s ongoing efforts to promote a Child Marriage Free Indian (CMFI) society, supported by the Government’s Just Rights for Children campaign. The circular states that the action aims to eliminate child marriage through public awareness and community participation, and to reaffirm collective responsibility in protecting children and upholding the law.

The pledge ceremony will be conducted during office hours with the participation of officers and staff. Additionally, departments overseeing schools, welfare institutions, police units and community-level bodies have been asked to ensure that the pledge is administered across all subordinate institutions.

All HoOs have been instructed to submit a compliance report to the Deputy Commissioner’s office by November 30th, 2025. An official pledge document was enclosed with the circular, emphasizing the commitment to:

Make every possible effort against child marriage.

Ensure that no child marriage takes place in families, neighbourhoods, or communities.

Report attempts of child marriage to Panchayat and government authorities.

Raise voices for children’s education, safety, and the creation of a Child Marriage Free Bharat.
