Department of Animal Husbandry &Veterinary Services conducted District Level Workshop on Animal welfare Awareness under the theme. "A Call to Care", held at CVO office Phek on 26th Feb'2026.  
In her keynote address, CVO Phek, Dr. E. Mhonlumi Lotha said that program was organised to spread awareness for animal care and that we are responsible for their well being and  protection. 
Resource person, Sekhotso Rokha, Retainer Lawyer, Phek District Legal Services Authority while speaking on Sensitization on Animal Welfare, highlighted the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960 for Animals' Welfare, and appealed to the citizens and pet owners to provide suitable environment and proper care to these animals.
Short speeches were also delivered by EAC Phek hq. Imnasenla Walling, NCS and SDPO Phek, Khuzah Jurry, NPS where the EAC outlined the functions of District Level Committee for Protection of Animals headed by Deputy Commissioner and the SDPO informed with regard to International Organisation/PETA, Animal welfare Court of India at the program.
The programme was chaired by Dr. Vililu Epao VAS Phek while Dr.Tshokedu  Keyho VAS proposed the vote of thanks.
