The Home Department, General Administration Branch-I, Government of Nagaland has notified that in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (iii) of Rule 8 of the Census Rules, 1990, made under the provisions of the Census Act, 1948 (37 of 1948) and in pursuance of Notification No.S.0.99 (E) dated: 07.01.2026 issued by the Government of India in the Ministry of Home Affairs (Office of the Registrar General, India) and published in the Extraordinary Gazette of India vide Gazette No.89 dated: 07.01.2026; the Government of Nagaland has declared that the work for the first phase of Census of India, 2027, i.e. the House Listing and Housing Census in the State of Nagaland, will be conducted from 1st July to 30th July, 2026, and the option for self-enumeration shall be operational from 16th June, 2026 to 30th June, 2026.
