The Wokha District Administration, Department of Social Welfare, and District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), under the banner of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (Mission Shakti), organized a felicitation programme for mothers and newborn baby girls held at DC’s Conference Hall, Wokha, on 24th March 2026.
Epidemiologist, Dr. Khesheli Awomi delivered a session on “Complementary Feeding: Right Food, Right Time, Right Amount,” emphasizing the importance of proper nutrition for child health. Altogether, 190 mothers and newborn baby girls were felicitated during the event, with warm blankets distributed as part of the initiative.
The programme was chaired by Gender Specialist, DHEW, Merithung Lotha, while the vote of thanks was proposed by District Mission Coordinator, DHEW, Dr. Wonjano E. Enny.  
The event highlighted the commitment of the district administration and social welfare agencies towards promoting maternal and child welfare, reinforcing the vision of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao to empower women and ensure a healthier future for all girl child.
