The launching programme of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Shamator Branch, was held at Shamator with V. Khamo, General Secretary, IRCS Nagaland, as the special guest on 20th May 2026. The programme began with a welcome address delivered by Athrong, SDO (C), Shamator.

A keynote address was delivered by the special guest, who highlighted the humanitarian role and initiatives undertaken by IRCS Nagaland and encouraged the gathering to actively participate in the service of humanity through the Red Cross movement.

A speech on the importance of blood donation was delivered by Kholi Dolf, while the President of IRCS Shamator Branch, Chubatemjen, DC Shamator, also addressed the gathering and spoke on the significance of establishing the branch in the district.

Participants of the programme included volunteers from schools and colleges, apex tribal organisations of the district, village councils of Shamator and newly selected members under the Shamator Branch. 

The programme highlighted various humanitarian activities and initiatives undertaken by the IRCS Kohima Branch and emphasised the importance of volunteerism and community participation.

The programme was chaired by Mekato J Aye, NCS, EAC Shamator. Vote of thanks was proposed by Mhathung, MO, CHC Shamator.

The launching programme concluded with Community First Responder training to all participants as a collective call towards strengthening humanitarian service and community welfare in the district through the Indian Red Cross Society.
