The Election Commission of India (ECI), vide Press Note No. ECI/PN/88/2026 dated May 14, 2026, has announced the conduct of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls in all Assembly Constituencies across 16 States and 3 Union Territories, including Nagaland.

According to the schedule notified by the Commission, the qualifying date for the Special Intensive Revision in Nagaland will be October 1, 2026. The Office of the Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Dimapur, informed that the revision exercise will be carried out in different phases beginning from August 5, 2026.

As per the notified schedule, preparation and training activities will be conducted from August 5 to August 14, while house-to-house visits by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will be carried out from August 16 to September 14, 2026. Rationalization of polling stations will also be undertaken by September 14, 2026.

            The publication of the draft electoral roll has been scheduled for September 20, 2026, followed by the period for filing claims and objections from September 20 to October 20, 2026. Disposal of claims and objections will be completed between September 29 and November 18, while the final electoral roll will be published on November 23, 2026.

            The press release further stated that the schedule for SIR Phase-II has been fixed keeping in view the common field machinery and the ongoing house listing of Census operations. The exercise will involve all stakeholders, including electors, political parties and election officials.

            Recognised political parties under Dimapur district have been requested to appoint Booth Level Agents (BLAs) for each polling booth to ensure transparency and participation during the revision process. All eligible electors have also been urged to extend full cooperation to BLOs during the house-to-house verification process and ensure that their electoral roll details are accurate and updated.
