Nagaland is gearing up to observe the 80th Independence Day in a befitting manner along with the rest of the country. In the State capital Kohima, the ceremonial function will be held at the Nagaland Secretariat Plaza at 9 a.m. Highlights of the programme will include hoisting of the National Flag by the Chief Minister, presentation of Guard of Honour by the State Police, Para Military Forces, Home Guards, Ex-Servicemen, NCC, besides others. In the Districts and Sub-divisions, Deputy Chief Ministers, Ministers, Advisors and the respective ADCs/SDOs will hoist the National Flag and take the Rashtriya Salute.

Further, as per the instructions of the Ministry of Home Affairs, GoI in regard to this year’s Independence Day celebrations; in the programme, on the arrival of the Chief Minister at the venue, the National Song (Vande Mataram) shall be sung, followed by the hoisting of the National Flag, and the National Anthem. After the address by the Chief Minister, the National Song (Vande Mataram) shall be sung again followed by the National Anthem. These will be followed by March Past and presentation of cultural and entertainment programmes.

In the Independence Day programmes being held in the districts and sub-divisions also, in line with the instructions of MHA, the same sequence for National Song (Vande Mataram) and National Anthem shall be followed.

In the programmes, when the National Song (Vande Mataram) is sung, the audience shall stand to attention as done for the National Anthem.

The Home Department, Government of Nagaland, has cordially invited all the citizens to be a part of the Independence Day celebrations at the State capital and in their respective districts and sub divisions.

The State level function at Kohima will be streamed Live at the official Youtube channel of the State IPR Department ‘DIPR Nagaland’.
