Along with the rest of the nation, a week-long Wildlife Week 2022 under the theme “Recovering Key Species for Ecosystem Restoration” was celebrated by the Tuensang Forest Division on 10th October 2022. Kumar Ramnikant, Deputy Commissioner Tuensang, and Vishal IPS Superintendent of Police Tuensang graced the occasion. 

DFO Tuensang Samom Khelen Singh, IFS delivered the keynote address where he highlighted the significance of Wildlife and also reminded a citizen's duty to preserve and have a sustainable relationship with nature.

While speaking on the occasion, Superintendent of Police, Tuensang, Vishal IPS spoke about ecological imbalance caused by human activities such as hunting and deforestation.

Deputy Commissioner Tuensang, Kumar Ramnikant said that due to the Naga society's hunting practices, huge parts of the forest and its wildlife have already disappeared from the vicinity. He advocated practicing environmentally friendly habits and to reduce the use of plastics and other harmful chemical substances. He concluded by acknowledging the Department for organizing such programs. Around 50 students participated from various schools where cash prizes along with certificates were awarded to the winners of essay and drawing competitions. 

Nayang from the Forest Department delivered the vote of thanks to all the participants. The programme was chaired by Teacher In charge, Government High School, Chaba.
