A two-day orientation workshop for the State of Nagaland on Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS) 2022 kicked started on the 13th January 2023 at the Conference Hall, Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, Kohima.
The programme began with a keynote address by Dr. Ritu Thur, Mission Director, National Health Mission, Nagaland where he said that the main objective of this workshop is to sensitize and create awareness to improve the areas of concern in the health sector as per IPHS norms. It will bring lots of benefits in service delivery for the state and also help the department improve the health indicators.
Y.Kikhato Sema, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary, DoHFW, Government of Nagaland stated that there are great challenges faced in the health sector in the State, he requested all the officers present to propose setting up health units only on a need basis. He also urged the officers to have a consultation sitting with the churches and community to work together and come into partnership in building up community-based health centers in those that are lying non-functional.
The workshop comprised Offline and Online modes covering topics on the importance of IPHS 2022, Understanding Critical Areas, Support services, Planning for IPHS and Linkages with DHAP, Anemia Mukt Bharat, Human Resources for Health, Public Health Management Cadre, Challenges & possible solutions for IPHS implementation, with Prasanth K.S, PHA, NHSRC, Dr. Musarrat Siddiqui, NHSRC, NHSRC, Dr. Surajit Chowdhary, NE-RRC. Dr. Sila Deb, Addl. Commissioner & In-charge, Nutrition Division, MoHFW, Mona Gupta, Advisor, HRH, NHSRC, Dr. Poonam, NHSRC, and Dr. Himanshu Bhushan, Advisor, PHA, NHSRC as resource persons.
