The crucial road link between Tuensang and Mon has been successfully restored on August 2nd, 2023, by HQ Project Sewak (Border Roads Organization). The road had suffered extensive damage due to a massive landslide triggered by incessant rain near Thimlak Village at KM 18.050 on July 16th, 2023. The incident led to the collapse of the existing Bailey Bridge at the location, causing it to fall into the Aoyoung River and effectively cutting off road connectivity.
Responding swiftly to the crisis, the 100 Road Construction Company of the 15 Border Roads Task Force (BRTF) under Project Sewak took immediate action. On July 18th, 2023, a temporary bamboo bridge was constructed to facilitate pedestrian traffic through the area. The culmination of these tireless efforts occurred on August 1st, 2023, with the successful launch of a 110-foot Bailey Bridge.
The endeavor to restore road connectivity was met with appreciation from both the public and the Deputy Commissioner of Tuensang.
