In pursuance of ECI letter No.437/6/POL/LET/FUNC/2017-CCS dated 31.10.2017 and in view of the enforcement of Model Code of Conduct with effect from 18.01.2023 consequent on the announcement of General Election to Nagaland Legislative Assembly, 2023 by ECI; a Screening Committee headed by the Chief Secretary for the proposals relating to Model Code of Conduct has been constituted with the following composition with immediate effect:

(a)        Chief Secretary                       : Chairman

(b)        Principal Secretary, Home      : Member Secretary

(c)        AHOD of department(s) to

which the proposal relate        : Member

The Committee shall examine each proposal relating to permission/clarification during the period of Model Code of Conduct before sending it to ECI through the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) in the light of Commission's existing instructions/clarifications on matters in regard to Model Code of Conduct

All the Departments have been advised to not forward any reference/ proposal relating to Model Code of Conduct directly to the ECI. The Department concerned may submit its proposal relating to Model Code of Conduct, if any, to the Home Department for examination by the Screening Committee and further necessary action.
