Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, B. Henok Buchem, has issued several traffic-related directives in view of the upcoming events and ongoing highway works.

For the event “Nagaland United: A Gathering of Faith, Hope & Revival” scheduled on November 30 at Indira Gandhi Stadium, traffic will be regulated from 12:00 noon to 10:00 pm. The stretch covering High School Junction – IG Stadium – High Court Junction – Nagaland Civil Secretariat Road will function as a Ring Road with only one-way (clockwise) movement allowed. Also, one-way traffic will be imposed from Northfield Junction on NH-2 towards the RBI Office via Northfield School during the same period.

In a separate order issued ahead of the Hornbill Festival (December 1–10), movement of heavy vehicles has been restricted. Heavy vehicles coming from Manipur will be diverted via Tadubi–Kidima–Kezo Town–BSF–DBS–High Court Junction to 10th Mile Peducha. Those coming from Dimapur and bound for other districts will not be allowed to enter Kohima town before 10:00 pm and are advised to take the Peducha–Tsiesema (10 Mile) route. Heavy vehicles transiting towards Kisama along NH-2 will be permitted only after 10:00 pm.

The traffic regulations for heavy vehicles will remain in effect from December 1 to 10.

Meanwhile, the National Highway-29 section near Liezocha (Chainage 173.300 km) and Kezanu (Chainage 175.350 km) has been opened for heavy vehicles up to six-wheeler trucks, following a notification from the Executive Engineer of National Highways, Kohima Division.
