It was organized at PBCA Hall Longleng with Dharam Raj, IAS Deputy Commissioner Longleng as a special guest.

CDPO & i/c DWO Longleng, T. Longlang Luckpan delivered the welcome address which was followed by an award presentation for senior citizens for 2021-2022.

Special guest Dharam Raj, IAS Deputy Commissioner Longleng said people should acknowledge the contributions made by older people and that aged people have no hostile motives toward anyone, they only hope for good things to transpire for future generations.

Young people of today's generation have neglected to develop the value of sharing thoughts, and time with aged people whereas they focus more on some other areas which will disappear with age. Without the blessings of our parents and older people, no one will be prosperous in the future, he said. DC also requested the Youth not to ignore the words of wisdom given by our parents and older people.

DC also announced the Elder line which is 14567 for older people facing survival difficulties to get assistance.

            DC also requested the gathering to disseminate their lifetime knowledge and experience to the younger generation because it will give resilience to society and civilization. "Older people are the source of knowledge for us because it is only they who know about tribal customs, and culture," he added.

The Department of Social Welfare is also striving its best to introduce all the schemes accessible at Longleng. Also, the Longleng district Senior Citizens association had a long discussion to introduce schemes to enhance the condition of the old people. DC urged the older people to remember the people of Longleng and the Citizens of India in general in their everyday prayers.

At the end of his speech, he acknowledged all the elderly people who have come to attend the programme and requested them to continually support the young people to accumulate together.

DC also gave away the award for senior citizens for 2021-2022 to Nyangpen Phom from Tangha village and Pukyung Phom from Hukpang village.

Elung Phom, President Longleng district senior citizens forum delivered the vote of thanks. The programme was chaired by A. Afen Phom.
