At Ongpangkong Salang, Mokokchung, it was organized by the District Welfare Office in collaboration with the office of Chief Medical Officer Mokokchung.
Addressing the gathering as a special guest, Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, Shashank Pratap Singh IAS mentioned that society comprises different sections of people with different requirements and attention regarding their needs. Elderly citizen in the society needs special attention for their overall well-being, to meet these challenges, Govt. of India has come up with various schemes to assist the elderly citizen, Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY) is one such scheme to provide assistive devices to the elder citizen, he added.
During the programme, Distinguished Senior Citizen Award was presented to Dr. Tiameren Ao and Temsula Lemtur. Token distribution of Assistive devices under RVY scheme was given away to the beneficiaries.
Earlier, the welcome address was delivered by Hebou Rio, District Welfare Officer, Mokokchung while a short speech encouraging the senior participants was shared by Dr. Limanaro, DPO (NCD) Mokokchung. A vote of thanks was proposed by Imliyanger, CDPO Kubolong.
A medical camp was also held for the Elderly to mark the occasion.
