Lotha Catholic Union which was established in the year 1995, with the motto “Love, Faith, Unity, Service” celebrated its Silver Jubilee from 11th to 12th December 2020 at Wokha with the theme “Go forth and Proclaim the Good News to all Nations”.

On the second day of celebration, Dy. Chief Minister, Home, Road & Bridges (R&B) Y. Patton graced the occasion as the guest of honour and unveiled the Jubilee Monolith, which was dedicated by the Bishop of Konia Diocese Most Rev. Dr.James Thoppil.

Y. Patton congratulated the Lotha Catholic Union (LCU), especially to the pioneers, who had done yeoman job and reaching thus far for celebrating the 25th years Silver Jubilee. Patton welcomed all the members and also extended greetings to those who could not make it due to the pandemic. He said that jubilee celebration is the handiwork and vision of some pioneers, so it is befitting to honour their hard work.

Patton said that most of the Lotha educated leaders are the catholic convent products, and  encouraged all to continue the good work the catholic association had contributed to the Lotha community. On the negative trend due to introduction of modern information technology such as mobile hand set, he urged the youngsters to focus more on their academic persuasion instead of hooking up on the modern gadgets which are addictive and had many negative impact.

As sign of encouragement to the students community for the catholic faith from Lotha community, Patton declared that those who pass/ clear IAS/IP and EAC/DSP he will award cash prize of rupees 10 (ten) lakhs and 5 (five) lakhs respectively. Patton while celebrating jubilee, said that it is also a time of forgiveness, whereby he reminded them to forgive past mistakes for an era of peace and prosperity for the community in general.

While extending greeting on behalf of the catholic Association of Nagaland (CAN) Johnny Ruangmei said twenty five years is very significant. Way back in 1995 five young energetic enlightened man from catholic faith came together and established the Union and the fruit of the five strong men and termed the celebration as very auspicious.

The welcome speech was delivered by President LCU, Peter Lichamo.
