Lotha Officers’ Association (LOA) General Conference was held at Wokha on 5th March 2022 with the theme ‘Together we work for common good’ (Nzontsu tssoe nzontsu mmhon soyingta).
Deputy Chief Minister, Y. Patton, while speaking at the programme, urged all the officers serving the government in various capacities to discharge their duties with competence, adding that Lotha officers are the image and mirror of the Lotha community, representing the Lotha community. He added that over the years, LOA has remained instrumental in addressing issues impacting the society.
Patton also appealed to the Lotha Baptist Churches Association (LBCA) to settle their differences for the benefits of the Lotha community as the community will progress only if the people are united.
Advisor, IT, S&T and NRE, Mmhonlumo Kikon said that the voice of the people is very important and expressed his optimism that through this forum, various issues which ills our community will be deliberated upon. While stating this, he also urged the LOA to identify issues that the Lotha community is facing with and deliberate on it to bring a solution so as to have progressive society.
Advisor, Horticulture and Border Affairs, Mhathung Yanthan in his speech said LOA is a platform focused on the benefit of the Lotha community. LOA has a very crucial role to play for the sake of future generation, he said, urging all the officers to dedicate themselves to be good ambassadors for the community. Stating on the positive note on the border issue between Assam and Nagaland, Mhathung said that both the Government of Assam and Nagaland are trying its best to solve the problem. He disclosed that five different committees have been set up to work out the differences.
MLA Dr. Chumben Murry said that it is an awakening call to come together and share our thoughts, as this conference is conducted after a gap of three years. He also thanked the LOA for sponsoring a coaching center for the aspiring candidates who wants to appear in various exams. He said that we need to focus on providing skill development activities to benefit the local entrepreneurs.
Welcome speech was delivered by LOA President, Mhabemo Yanthan IAS. During the second session, Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, Orenthung Lotha delivered a short speech, Prof. T. Zarenthung Ezung (NU) spoke on ‘The role of public servants/ officers towards achieving the common good.’
