Medziphema sub-division celebrated the World Environment Day under the theme "Only One Earth" on June 3rd 2022 at ADC’s Office, Medziphema.

ADC Medziphema, Imsongmeren in his keynote address, explained the formation of the Plantation Drive Committee. He also highlighted the plans of plantation drive, the protection and preservation of trees and requested all the gathering to plant more trees and propagate the message of saving the earth.

Professor Dr. Alemla, Pro Vice-Chancellor NU, SASRD speaking on the theme "Only One Earth," explained the importance of celebrating World Environment Day, how to protect, pressure and safeguard the mother earth since 1972. She also briefed on the hazards of using plastic and urged the public to impart knowledge on the importance of restoring and reforming the earth.

The programme was chaired by Forest Ranger, Florence and vote of thanks was delivered by SDO (C), Tokai V Sumi.

To mark the World Environment Day, a demonstration plot was created in the Indoor Stadium where 36 trees (mangoes, lime and guava) were planted by CIH Department headed by Arvind Singh, Technical Consultant, CIH.

The programme ended with plantation drive from all departments planting trees each alongside the ADC office and also all the departmental office complex under Medziphema Sub-division. Around 500 trees of Jamun, Arjun, Tulip, Indian Peach and Bokul were provided by the Environment, Forests & Climate Change department.

The plantation drive was a huge success with active participation from all Government departments, both the central and the state and the public.
