District Water and Sanitation Mission Member held a meeting at DC Conference Hall on 5th February 2021. The meeting was chaired by Kumar Ramnikant IAS Chairman DWSM and DC Tuensang.

The meeting was conducted on the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission. The objective of JJM to enable all the rural households to have access to safe & adequate drinking water within the premises to the extent possible. For the verification of the implementation third party is empanelled and for Tuensang district Tolen Thangjam has been nominated for the purpose. JJM is envisioned to provide safe and adequate drinking water through individual household tap connection by 2024 to all the household in rural India.

Executive Engineer PHED Er. Kedolhuto highlighted on the records of the department for 2019 - 20 the JJM projected was in seven inhabitant out of which three projects are completed and four almost completed left for verification. For 2020-21 the project proposal is for 50 inhabitants in the district out of which 10 inhabitant village will be implemented under RD department and the rest will be under PHED. He also highlighted on the compulsory implementation of water connection to the PHCs/CHCs, Schools and anganwadi centers in the village under the scheme.

The importance of inclusion of medical department in the committee to check the quality of drinking water was also enlightened. He also highlighted that under JJM there will be three kind of schemes which are new construction of water line, extra line to already existing water connection as supplement to meet the demands and the third is retrofitting.

DC and Chairman also urged the members to give cooperation so that the JJM scheme will be successfully implemented in the district.
