The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, has notified that the Pradhan Mantri Street Vendor's AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) Scheme originally launched in June, 2020 has successfully benefitted over 68 lakh street vendors. The Union Cabinet has recently approved the restructuring and extension of the PM SVANidhi scheme till March, 2030. The scheme has now been restructured to broaden its impact by deepening financial inclusion, promoting digital adoption, building capacities and ensuring socio-economic upliftment of vendors and their families.

In this regard, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, plans to launch a 16-day special campaign for conducting 'Lok Kalyan Melas' under PM SVANidhi Scheme from 17th September to 2nd October 2025 across all Urban Local Bodies (ULBs). This ULB-level outreach aims to facilitate access to micro-credit, promote digital empowerment, build capacities, and ensure socio-welfare linkages. The campaign will be implemented in coordination with multiple stakeholders including Lending institutions, Digital Payment Aggregators (DPAs), Town Vending Committees (TVCs), Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), Line Ministries/ Departments, NGOs, and Vendor Associations.

The key objectives of the special campaign include:

        I.            Mobilization of new applications under the restructured PM SVANidhi Scheme

II.            Facilitate loan disbursement of already sanctioned applications

III.            Process applications pending with ULBs under the category of 'Returned by Bank'

IV.            Process applications pending with Banks for sanction

    V.            Ensure digital on boarding of inactive beneficiaries

VI.            Organize training of street food vendor beneficiaries in coordination with FSSAI

VII.            Undertake socio-economic profiling and sanction of left-out beneficiaries and their families

Further, the Ministry has issued a restructured PM SVANidhi Guideline and the scheme has been extended till 31st March 2030. PM SVANidhi portal is activated wherein interested street vendors can apply for loan in their respective ULBs as followed earlier.
