The monthly meeting of Mokokchung District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) was held at District Planning Hall, Mokokchung on 24th June 2021 under the chairmanship of Minister, Mechanical & Housing, Tongpang Ozukum.

Tongpang Ozukum in his maiden meeting as DPDB Chairman thanked for the privilege given to him to lead the District Planning and Development Board for the people of Mokokchung and he called upon everyone to contribute their best.

The house discussed on the land issue at Salangtem Ward at the present Power House, Mokokchung for outright purchase of the land from the landowner for development and upgradation of the Power House. It resolved to write and approach the concern department and to take necessary steps on the issue.

On the status of COVID-19 in the district CMO Mokokchung, Dr. Chubala Aier highlighted on the updated COVID-19 reports and also the requirement for Mokokchung District Health facilities where she mentioned on the need to update the Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in the district starting from District COVID Hospital over which the house agreed to maintain 2 (two) power generator in the hospital and to provide at least one oxy-metre to every village.

The house also resolved to deduct 10% amount from LADP fund as per the directive of the government and hand over the amount to COVID District Task force for COVID expenses in the district. On report of shortfall of drivers at DCs office, the house agreed to approach the appropriate authority.

On the issue of dismantling the present Law College, Mokokchung building and shifting it to an alternative location, it decided to complete the shifting at the earliest and complete the development of the new DCs office which is in full swing progress.

Issue relating to MMC dumping site was thoroughly discussed and the house agreed to upgrade and developed the site and also to approach the land owners for the outright purchase of the land.

The Chairman put a proposal for the construction of Mokokchung Town ring road to bypass the main town as development activities are growing overnight and as a result, traffic concession has become a major problem. The house also forwarded the LADP proposal for 2021- 2022.

Tongpang Ozukum extended his appreciation to the Mokokchung Town Baptist Arogo (MTBA) and Mokokchung Town Ao Lanur Telongjem for their untiring effort and contributions at the time of needs in fight against the Pandemic and also Mr. Moa, who volunteered to extend his service as the ambulance driver for COVID. He also thanked all those who have come forward and contributed selflessly in the fight against the COVID-19 Pandemic.
