Brig PS Sangwan, Group Commander, Kohima NCC Group visited Yingli College, Longleng on 22nd March 2023. He was accompanied by Col CST Swamy, Commanding Officer, 25 Naga Bn NCC, Mokokchung. The visit was a part of the Annual Inspection of NCC units. The visiting dignitary was received by Senior Under Officer Shetlong P.
The Group Commander was accorded a formal welcome by Dr. T Temsu Imti, Principal of Yingli College who explained the initiatives that are being undertaken by the college to benefit the student community. Yingli College has been one of the best-performing institutions under 25 Naga Bn NCC for the past few years.
Brig Sangwan then addressed the NCC cadets and complimented them for their hard work and dedication towards all NCC activities. He asked the cadets to think about the career path they would like to take and write it down. He said the Naga students are very talented and have a good grasp of the English language so they have better chances of making it to the Central Government jobs. Moreover, a significant number of vacancies are reserved for Scheduled Tribes. Together with the NCC ‘C’ Certificate, the cadets are way ahead of others who compete for UPSC and NPSC exams. Hence, they should aim to clear these exams.
He also informed about the special drives carried out by renowned corporate companies like Reliance and SpiceJet to recruit NCC cadets in other parts of the country. NCC Group Kohima would make efforts to invite such companies to recruit interested cadets from the hinterland of Nagaland thereby providing additional job opportunities.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. T Temsu Imti brought out the history of the college and informed the gathering that the college is ranked ‘B+’ by NAC and stands third in the whole of Nagaland. He advised the cadets to concentrate both on Academics and NCC so that they are well qualified to be placed in good jobs. He also thanked the Group Commander for visiting the college and motivating the cadets.
Brig Sangwan also had discussions with the college management on ways to further enhance NCC activities. He also visited the college library and appreciated the huge collection of books including the ‘Digital Library’ setup.
