The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Mokokchung in collaboration with the District Agriculture Office, Mokokchung and ATMA Mokokchung conducted awareness programme on the existing COVID-19 pandemic to farmers in five (5) villages under Mokokchung district during the COVID -19 lockdown period.

Advisories on maintaining good hygiene, sanitization of agricultural tools and implements before and after use along with the importance of maintaining social distancing while carrying out agricultural operations to avert being of infected by the novel Corona virus were shared with the farmers.

The officials also advised the farmers to wear masks as a precautionary measure for which masks were distributed among the farmers. The farmers were also highlighted on the importance of the Arogya Setu App and advised them to install the app in their mobile phones as another measure to be aware of any possible COVID-19 infected individual around their premises. Kharif season vegetable seed inputs namely chilli, tomato, brinjal, Lady’s Finger along with Kharif cereals like soybean, groundnut, arhar, cowpea, maize etc. were distributed to the farmers in different villages. The officials also visited maize fields infested with Fall Army Worm (FAW) and the level of damage was assessed. Emamectin was given to the farmers to manage the pest. Other cultural and mechanical measures on management of FAW were also advised to the farmers.
