The District Administration, District Hub for Empowerment of Women, and Sakhi-One Stop Centre Longleng collaborated with the Phom Student Conference Longleng to observe the "Culmination Program of 16 Days Activism cum Human Rights Day." The event took place at the DPDB hall, DC Complex Longleng, on 9th December 2023, under the theme 'Unite! Invest to prevent Violence Against Women & Girls.'

The introductory note was delivered by SDO (Civil) & Nodal Officer BBBP/DHEW Longleng, Meyazungba Jamir. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of non-violence against women and children, highlighting the rights and powers granted by the government to protect them. He urged women and the youth to understand and exercise the rights bestowed upon them. He concluded by stating, "Ignorance of the law is not an excuse." 

Angbhenla Phom highlighted the absence of harassment, violence, or ignorance of women and children in Phom culture in the olden days. She emphasized the need for a supportive society and parents, stating that women flourished in fields designated for them. However, in the present day, she noted an unfortunate increase in violence. Phom encouraged women and children to consult or report problems to higher authorities if they face harassment. She stressed that every individual has the right to be informed about their rights and duties. A special number was presented by Hela Jaa Wung.

The program, chaired by DEO DHEW Longleng, N. Sangla Phom, included the administration of the pledge on '16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence' by Case Worker OSC Longleng, Shandimoinyei A. Phom.

The departments and organizations present were HoOs of concern departments, Phomla Hoichem executive member, entire ward president Women under Longleng Town, PSC executive members, Church Leaders, Longleng District Legal Service Authority, Women Police Cell, District Child Protection Office, and Asha and Anganwadi workers.
