On 27th May 2020, at 4:45 AM, five buses carrying 151 persons (returnees from Chennai) from Kohima reached Sao Chang College Quarantine Centre, Tuensang, and were admitted after necessary procedures were followed. Their samples for COVID-19 testing were taken at Kohima before being sent to Tuensang and results were awaited. At 7:00 AM, report of a person being tested positive for COVID-19 was received from the State Nodal Officer, IDSP, Kohima. Consequently, the person was isolated at the quarantine centre and in the meanwhile the District Hospital, Tuensang, was activated as a COVID Hospital by shifting the regular patients to Urban Primary Health Centre, PHC Longpang and Polyclinic. The person was then shifted to the COVID Hospital isolation ward and is being monitored as per the SOP. As per the latest report, the person is stated to be asymptomatic and in a stable condition. More test results are awaited.
In view of detection of one positive case of COVID-19 among the returnees from Kohima, quarantined at Sao Chang College Quarantine Centre, the Deputy Commissioner Tuensang, Kumar Ramnikant, IAS has in an order No.DC-TSG/CON-247/2019-20 informed that the entire Campus of Sao Chang College Quarantine Centre has been declared as Containment Zone as defined in the Standard Operating Procedure issued the Directorate of Health & family Welfare, Government of Nagaland with immediate effect.
