CEO Nagaland and officials briefed media personnel after conduct of polls to the 18th Lok Sabha Election 2024, Nagaland Parliamentary Constituency at AWO Ki, D- Block, Kohima on 19th April 2024.

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Nagaland Vyasan R, IAS stated that the Lok Sabha election process across the state has been very peaceful with 56% polling turnout till the filing of this report. He said that during the course of model code of conduct from 16 March 2024, with the combine effort of enforcement agencies have been able to seize lakhs worth of illegal cash/ liquor/drugs.

During the election process, over fourteen thousand four hundred (14,400) personnel including the reserves and used a total of eight thousand eight hundred (8,800) vehicles were engaged. He informed that in terms of vehicles requisitioning, no vehicles were requisitioned from outside the state unlike previous elections and all vehicles were requisitioned from within the state, consisting mostly of government vehicles. 

He also mentioned one unique feature of this election was that many of polling stations were managed by women and PwDs. He also mentioned about Kohima 10 Northern Angami 1 Assembly Constituency which has about 28 polling stations were all mend by women.

Briefing on the security aspects of the election, State Police Nodal Officer for Lok Sabha elections, IGP (Range) Limasunep Jamir, IPS said that the polling process through the state was peaceful and there had been no major reports of law and order or violence in the state.

Jamir highlighting the total number of police personnel deployed for the entire exercise said, a total of 48 companies of CMPF, 46 companies of IRB & NAP, 600 personnel of home guards, civil police 5,761 (personnel of district executive police) and utilised the services of 9,583 village guards and total of 22,954 security personnel were mobilised for the entire exercise.

He said that no formal complaint was received anywhere else in the state except in Wokha where three criminal cases have been taken cognizance of pertaining to impersonation.

Commissioner & Returning Officer Nagaland Parliamentary Constituency, Sushil Kumar Patel, IAS highlighted the process of the conduct of elections and handling of postal ballots and service ballot.
