The 78th Independence Day celebration was held at Aboi Local ground where MLA, Y. Mankhao Konyak graced the auspicious event by unfurling the National Flag and delivering the Independence Day speech. He took salute from the parade contingents and inaugurated the exhibition cum sale stall organised by different departments.

Highlights of the programme were choreography by the students of El Shaddai School, a cultural troupe from KU and a women 's group from KNSK presented cultural dance. National anthem was sung by Ying Angh school. NMBA pledge was administered by Commandant, 12th Assam Rifle, Kirti Chakra, Rahul Gurung. The celebration was attended by a huge crowd of government employees, civil societies and the public.
