The 78th India Independence Day was observed in Longleng with the Minister for Housing & Mechanical Engineering. Government of Nagaland, B. Bashangmongba Chang, as the special guest on 15th August 2024 at public ground Longleng.

The special guest unfurled the National flag and inspected the ceremonial parade contingents and delivered the Independence Day speech, took Rashtriya salute from seven parade contingents comprises of DEF Longleng,12th NAP (IR) Chingtok, Village Guard Orangkong, NCC Yingli College Longleng, Bautung Government Higher secondary school and 12th NAP (IR) Chingtok Band Party.

The special guest also inaugurated the exhibition stalls set up by various Departments and inaugurated the park "Ngei Bampu Longleng" (I Love Longleng). The highlights of the program included Presentation of district awards followed by Folk Dance (Female) Yaongyimchen Luli Longleng and Folk Dance by the Male Nagaland Culture Troupe Longleng. Exhibition matches, Penalty shootout and Retreat by DEF Longleng.
