Advisor, Treasuries & Accounts, Art & Culture, Konngam Konyak, graced the 78th Independence Day celebration as the special guest at Local Ground, Mon on 15th August 2024.
The Advisor unfurled the National Flag and inspected the Parade contingents and delivered the 78th Independence Day 2024, message. Later, he inaugurated the stalls set up by different societies and departments.
The District Commendation Award was awarded to 12 (Twelve) employees namely,
1. L. Langlem Konyak, Jugali from EE, Power, Mon Division
2. P. Honngam Konyak, THC from DEF, Mon
3. Y. Methna Konyak, Dobashi, from DC Officer, Mon
4. Thonglem konyak, Mali, from DFO (Forest), Mon Division
5. Mongwang, Chowkidar, from DHO (Horti), Mon
6. Daniel Konyak, Agri Officer from DAO (Agri), Mon
7. Imkongwati, UDA from DFO (Fishery), Mon
8. A.N. Aying Konyak, Weaving Demonstrator, from DIC, Mon
9. W. Teihnyei, LDA from DC Office, Mon
10. T. Baiwang Konyak, Dobashi, from EAC Office, Shangnyu
11. C. Mannei Konyak, Dobashi, from EAC Office, Shangnyu
12. Lihngam Konyak, LDA, from PWD. (R&B) Mon Division.
Other highlights of the programme included, cultural dance by GHSS Mon Town, special numbers presented by GHSS, Mon, Honya & friends, Yenwang Konyak. NSS Unit, Wangkhao Government College display captivity of Konyak Society during head hunting and later marches to the Konyaks as one. ABC Atzing Konyak DEF Mon presented a song, ‘Desh Mere’.
Mosenlo Apong, Asstt. Commandant 6th NAP, was the Parade Commander. The Parade Contingents were:- 6th NAP, Tizit, DEF Mon, Village Guards, Ex-Servicemen, GHSS Mon, GHSS Mon Town C, GHSS Mon Town D, GMS, Mon Town A, GMS, Mon Town D, Bharat Scout & Guides (Boys & Girls), NCC, Wangkhao Government College, NCC, GHSS, Mon, NCC KHSS, Mon, Angjong Mission School, Police Unit School, Edith Douglas School, East Wood School, Little Flower School, 6th NAP Pipe Band.
Some of the institutions were also visited: District jail was visited by Chief Medical Office, Mon team, EE, Water Resources Department, Mon visited District Hospital Mon, GM, DIC, Mon Visited Orphanage Home and Old Age Home by District Welfare Office, Mon. In the evening, there was a friendly Penalty Shootout. Prize Distribution followed by Display of band. Beating of Retreat Ceremony by 6th NAP Pipe Band.
