Pungro Sub-division joined the nation in commemorating the78th Independence Day on 15th August at Pungro Public ground, Kiphire. The event was graced by Advisor for Fire & Emergency Services, Home Guards & Civil Defence, and Relief & Rehabilitation, S. Kiusumew Yimchunger as the Special Guest.

The event began with the chief guest unfurling the National Flag, followed by a Rashtriya Salute from eight march-past parade contingents and delivered his Independence Day speech.

The Parade was led by Commander Sheto Rhakho, ABSI 8th NAP ‘C’ Coy, and the parade contingents included NVG Zaonger village, GHSS Pungro, LFHSS Pungro, Christian School Pungro, ASMS Pungro, MHBS Pungro, GMS Pungro town, NVG Band, NVG Zhimkiur.

Entertainment was presented by Little Angel Day Care Pungro Town, Pungthu Cultural Troupe Pungro Town, KGBV Pungro and Shotangberu Cultural Troupe Pungro Town. 

The chief guest also inaugurated exhibition stalls set up by various departments and NGOs.
